Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Imperial Oil earnings preview: 1Q optimism bodes well for Big Oil

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) is expected to report its first quarter 2023 financial results, for the period ending March 31, 2023, before the market opens on Friday, April 28, 2023.

The analyst consensus forecast is for earnings per share (EPS) of $2.65, up from $2.07 during the same period last year, according to Zacks Investment Research.

Exxon's stock price has appreciated 15% over the past month to its current value of $118.57 per share.

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), meanwhile, is expected to report 1Q EPS of $3.36 on April 28 as well, unchanged from a year earlier, Zacks wrote.

In its previous quarter, Chevron missed the analysts' consensus forecast of $4.16 with EPS of $4.09.

Chevron’s share price has gained 10% over the past month to its current value of $171.87.

And, Zacks expects Imperial Oil Limited (TSX:IMO) to report on Friday first-quarter EPS of $1.51, up from $1.38 in the same quarter last year.

In its previous quarter, Imperial Oil reported EPS of C$2.86, beating the forecast by C$0.40.

Imperial Oil stock has popped 14% year to date, and 11% in the past month, to $72.15 per share.
