ECR Minerals PLC (AIM:ECR) has a “great problem” in Victoria, according to chief executive Andrew Haythorpe, who spoke to Proactive about the explorer’s latest drill results from the Creswick project.
Haythorpe, in an interview, highlighted that ECR currently has around 30 gold targets at Creswick.
These prospects are presently being prioritised through an extensive soil sampling programme with the latest encouraging results set to assist planning for a future drill programme.
Drilling is set to get underway in the coming weeks, with results potentially available in five to six weeks’ time.
"We have a great problem to have. And that is in Victoria, we have many gold targets at Creswick in particular," said Haythorpe.
"So the soil sampling results are very encouraging, and it's really helping us prioritise what we do moving forward at Creswick over the next couple of years."
Haythorpe also spoke about ECR’s plans to explore the Lolworth gold project, located in North Queensland.
"We're very much looking forward to getting onto Lolworth. And then furthermore, we are planning and advanced in the planning of drilling the hurricane project," added Haythorpe.
"As we move forwards into July, August, again, targeting and hopefully confirming the mineralization of gold veins which have not been drilled in far north Queensland and Hurricane [a rural area west of Mount Carbine]."
Whilst ECR sees Lolworth as a potential large-scale opportunity for gold discoveries, meanwhile, it is also keen to follow up an area in the Blue Mountain acquisition.
Here, it sees a project with potential that to date has shown a significant amount of visible gold and gold nuggets. The plan going forward will be to determine the source of the gold and in time move the project towards drilling.
Haythorpe also talked confidently about the company's progress and its future.
"We're adding significant gold opportunity to the company in terms of land,” he explained. “Step one, is have the land.
“Step two is to confirm the presence of gold, which we're well and truly advanced on.
“Step three is of course to focus the drilling on finding a resource which ultimately can become a minable reserve and in due course, an operating gold mine."
