Iris Energy increases operating hashrate at Bitcoin data centers

Iris Energy Limited (NASDAQ:IREN), a sustainable Bitcoin miner, said it has increased its operating hashrate from 3.6 EH/s to 4.6 EH/s, having announced in February that it is increasing its self-mining capacity from 2.0 EH/s to 5.5 EH/s.

The remaining 0.9 EH/s of miners have been delivered and are pending installation, the company said in a statement.

160MW of data centers, supporting 4.9 EH/s, is immediately available and the commissioning of the first 20MW at the company’s Childress facility in Texas, supporting the remaining 0.6 EH/s, is expected soon, Iris added.

Iris also said it has received $18.4 million in deposits from AEP Texas. The deposits, which were previously paid to Iris, have been released following the energization of the 600MW bulk power substation at Childress and the connection of the site to the ERCOT grid.

Iris Energy is a sustainable Bitcoin mining company supporting the decarbonization of energy markets and the global Bitcoin network.
