Torr Metals extends Stain Creek's copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization

Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) has announced assay results from 30 rock grab samples collected during the 2022 field program at the Stain Creek porphyry target at its Latham Project in British Columbia’s prolific Golden Triangle.

The company said the results extend the surface copper-gold-molybdenum (Cu-Au-Mo) mineralization from 300 metres (m) to 500m and that it remains open in all directions.

Geophysical data covering 3.7 square kilometres (km2) that have been newly reprocessed have also outlined five significant high magnetic anomalies, which Torr Metals said have the potential for clustered porphyry-style targets, adding that some of them are coincident with known (Cu-Au-Mo) mineralization.

“These latest results have greatly advanced the Stain Creek mineralized trend as a primary undrilled exploration target, alongside our Dalvenie copper-gold trend,” Torr Metals president and CEO Malcolm Dorsey said in a statement.

“At Stain Creek, within the Hu Zone, we are seeing elevated copper, gold, and molybdenum coincident with highly magnetic geophysical anomalies that together with styles of mineralization at-surface form a very compelling potential porphyry cluster target across a significant 1,200m by 1,500m extent," he added.

Highlights include:

  • Of the 30 rock grab samples collected in 2022, five samples assayed greater than 0.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, six samples greater than 0.12% Cu, and three samples greater than 15 parts per million (ppm) Mo;
  • A roughly 160m extension to the southeast within pervasively altered Stuhini Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks with rock grab samples yielding up to 1.55% Cu, 3.28 g/t Au, and 497 ppm Mo; and
  • Rock grab samples yielding up to 1.59 g/t Au and 19.95 ppm Mo within a strongly altered syenite intrusion, extending the mineralized trend by about 115m to the northwest.

The company noted that the Stain Creek target, located in the eastern portion of the 8.5 km multi-target Hu Zone, within its 100%-owned 689 km2 Latham Project, has never been drilled and the previously announced copper soil anomalies, as well as the high-grade rock grab samples and extensive high magnetic geophysical signature, make it a priority target for further exploration in 2023.

“We are also encouraged by results to date that have indicated a geological setting consistent with and similar to the Saddle North and Red Chris porphyry deposits, currently being advanced by majors (approximately) 60 km and 75 km to the south of Stain Creek,” Dorsey added. “With mineralization remaining open in all directions, we are looking forward to further advancing the Stain Creek exploration target in 2023."
