Gungnir Resources eyes copper-nickel sulphide targets in Sweden

Gungnir Resources Inc. (TSX-V:GUG, OTC:ASWRF) plans to conduct electromagnetic (EM) geophysics on its Hemberget copper-nickel project in Sweden.

The company has planned a ground EM survey that includes multiple widely-spaced profiles across the property, totally approximately 30 line-kilometres. This will be done using a Loupe EM system, a portable time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) instrument.

The goal is to target shallow conductors, which are potentially related to copper-nickel sulphide mineralization within a large, layered mafic-ultramafic intrusion, the company said. Gungnir previously discovered similar, smaller intrusions on its Knaften project to the south.

Work at Hemberget, which is located in Sweden’s Knaften greenstone belt, is expected to overlap with drilling at the company’s Lappvattnet nickel deposit.

Initial field investigations conducted last year confirmed out-cropping gabbroic intrusive rocks and boulders, and additionally sulphide bearing sedimentary rocks, a key ingredient in magmatic sulphide deposition, according to a statement.

The potential exists for volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) style mineralization on Hemberget as well, the company said.

Work at Hemberget, which is located in Sweden’s Knaften greenstone belt, is expected to overlap with drilling at the company’s Lappvattnet nickel deposit.
