Hillcrest Energy Technologies Ltd (CSE:HEAT, OTCQB:HLRTF) said it has hit the first milestone of its memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a global Tier 1 automotive leader, with the ultimate goal of delivering an optimized Hillcrest Silicon Carbide (SiC) inverter followed by the potential commercialization of a 350-kw product in 2024.
The Hillcrest SiC traction inverter leverages the company’s proprietary Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology platform to achieve improvements in system-level efficiency, performance, and reliability in electric systems, such as electric vehicles, the company said.
Under the previously announced MOU, Hillcrest and the supplier are partnering on the integration of an optimized version of Hillcrest's ZVS-enabled, 250-kw, 800-volt SiC inverter into an electrical powertrain system.
The company said it has successfully delivered and the customer has accepted the first demonstration test results, the first milestone of the MOU.
A purchase order has been issued for the next two milestones, which are the integration of the Hillcrest SiC inverter with the customer’s motor at the Hillcrest facility, followed by the integration of the inverter and motor into a demonstration at the customer’s facility.
"Completion of this milestone provides yet another validation of the capabilities of our proprietary ZVS technology," said Hillcrest CTO Ari Berger in a statement.
"I'm extremely proud of the team and the results we've achieved and excited to move forward to the next phase of activities with the global Tier 1 supplier."
Hillcrest Energy Technologies is a clean energy technology company developing high-value, high-performance power conversion technologies and digital control systems for next-generation powertrains and grid-connected renewable energy systems.
