FTSE 100 down, UK GDP flat - Market Report

FTSE 100 down, UK GDP flat - Market Report

Good morning from a very sunny London, where the FTSE 100 is down on the day following news from the ONS that UK GDP flatlined in February, failing even to grow by the forecast 0.1%.

Chief among those stocks that have risen this morning is grocery giant Tesco, which is up 2.4% after announcing that it expects full-year revenue and operating profit to come in at the higher end of City forecasts.

Elsewhere among London’s bigger names, Imperial Brands says its on track to achieve full-year profit and revenue growth. The tobacco focused company added it has completed more than half of its £1bn share buyback scheme.

Healthcare and consumer goods company PZ Cussons (LSE:PZC) has reported a 6.2% uptick in third-quarter revenue, boosted by growth in sales of its Imperial Leather and Cussons Creations brands.

And in small caps, construction group Galliford Try has announced its been appointed to build the new £140mln Carlisle Southern Link Road (CSLR).
