American Airlines stock fell in premarket trading Wednesday morning after the airline forecast lower-than-expected profit for its first quarter.
The airline is citing high fuel costs impacting its bottom line, according to reports.
On an adjusted basis, the company is expecting 1Q profit between $0.01 per share and $0.05 per share, below analyst expectations of $0.06 per share, according to Refinitiv estimates.
Shares were down around 2% premarket at $14.02.
The firm is coming off an encouraging 2022 when it swung to a profit with $127 million in net income for the year.
American is expected to report its 1Q 2023 earnings on April 20.
