Lloyds Banking has committed to doubling the number of people with disabilities among its senior management
The bank already has management targets for female representation and black, Asian and minority ethnic employees but this is the first time it has specified a number for people with disabilities, it said.
It is also a first for a UK bank, Lloyds claimed, though building society Nationwide has set a disability target for senior staff of 8% by March 2028.
Lloyds said it wants to double its ratio of people in senior roles with recognised conditions such as hearing loss, ADHD autism and mental health from 6% currently to 12% by 2025.
That would increase the number of senior managers who identify as having a disability across the business from 450 to 900, Lloyds said, adding it is updating its offices, technology, and recruitment processes to help achieve the target.
Fiona Cannon, Lloyds’s group sustainable business director, told PA that it was “really important to demonstrate that having a disability is not a barrier to progression, either in our organisation or others”.
