ATAC Resources stock climbs on definitive takeover deal plus more daily small cap movers

A definitive agreement to be acquired by Hecla Mining Company boosted shares of ATAC Resources Ltd Thursday plus other big percentage movers on news from the small and micro cap space

4:05pm: Allied Copper shares add to gains late day

ATAC Resources closed up 17% at $0.15, while Gander Gold gained 14% to $0.16, Allied Copper stock finished 21% higher to $0.425, and Copper Fox Metals ended up 5% at $0.225.

11:55am: ATAC Resources, Gander Gold shares advance sharply

ATAC Resources Ltd (TSXV:ATC) shares jumped 15% to $0.15 on Thursday after the exploration company announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) in an all-stock transaction. ATAC shareholders will receive 0.0166 of a Hecla common share plus 0.1 common shares of a new exploration company named Cascadia Minerals Ltd for each ATAC share held.

As well, shares of Gander Gold Corp (CSE:GAND) shot up 21% to $0.17 as the Newfoundland-focused gold explorer revealed that multiple high-priority gold targets for 2023 drilling have been identified at its 485 square kilometres Gander North Project in Newfoundland.

Allied Copper Corp (TSX-V:CPR, OTC:CPRRF), meanwhile, reported that its lithium-focused Volt Lithium Corp division has achieved what the company called “a technical breakthrough” with its proprietary, next-generation IES-300 Direct Lithium Extraction technology, which is expected to support continued step-change improvements in Volt’s process and project economics upon commercialization. Allied Copper stock popped 15% to $0.40 following the announcement.

And, Copper Fox Metals Inc (TSX-V:CUU, OTCQX:CPFXF) shares rose 5% to $0.225 on Thursday after the Canadian resource company provided an update of recent activities and plans on its 100% owned Van Dyke in-situ copper recovery (ISCR) project in Arizona, noting “the rehabilitation work completed to date on the selected historical drill holes has been encouraging”.
