Wincanton said it has commenced operations at Scotland Gateway, its new shared user supply chain hub.
The company said the site centralises its operations across the country and should “provide a platform for growth.”
Scotland Gateway should also create efficiencies for its customers by replacing previously subcontracted services, the London-listed company said.
“Customers will benefit from the unique share user environment, leading to synergies and more efficient operations,” the supply chain company said in a statement.
Wincanton’s Scottish clients across its divisions, including general merchandise and industrial, will have their operations migrated to the site by July 2023, which is located 12 miles east of Glasgow.
The hub, which provides warehousing, storage and transportation solutions, is expected to create up to 100 jobs.
“Our new Scotland Gateway site is a testament to Wincanton’s long-term commitment to Scotland, supporting the strategically important Central Belt and the economy through trade and jobs,” said country manager for Scotland Derek Stirling.
“This will improve our customers’ services across the entirety of the United Kingdom, cementing Wincanton’s position as a partner for each and every one of the four nations.”
Shares in Wincanton were up 1.35% in midday trading, changing hands at 209p.
