MetalNRG gets legal win in Scotland to follow English ruling

MetalNRG PLC (LSE:MNRG) said a court in Scotland had ruled in its favour in a case brought against it by former associate Pierpaolo Rocco in an unfair dismissal dispute.

In a statement, MetalNRG said that The Sheriff in Scotland had denied Rocco's application in the first instance and also denied an appeal.

Additionally, the Sheriff Appeal Court has ordered further submissions on costs if an agreed position cannot be reached.

MetalNRG said it will seek its costs of defending this appeal as well as those already granted in respect of the first instance decision.

Rocco now has 14 days to seek leave to appeal to the Inner House of the Court of Session on a point of principle.

Rolf Gerritsen from MetalNRG said: "We are delighted with this outcome in Scotland which once again fully vindicates our approach."

Last month, an English court ruled in MetalNRG’s favour in a related case involving BritNRG, where Rocco was a director, and Brit Energy.
