G2 Energy adds two new executives from within the company

G2 Energy Corp (CSE:GTOO, OTC:GTGEF) announced that a pair of its executives will be taking on new roles.

David Whitby, currently a director and president of the company, will take on the role of active chief operating officer. Gabriel Monteiro Queiroz, also a director, will step into the role of chief financial officer.

Whitby and Queiroz replace James Tague and Oleg Scherbina, respectively, who each resigned from their roles effective March 31. Scherbina will still serve as G2’s internal auditor, the company noted.

Whitby is a senior executive with 40 years of industry experience in the oil and gas sector. He worked for 14 years with Husky in Canada and 12 years for Gulf Canada/ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) in Indonesia and Australia, the company said.

Queiroz brings a solid background in finance and economics, as well as several years of corporate finance experience. His experience in the energy industry includes consultant roles for major public companies in the oil and gas industry in South America and the Middle East and roles as a business development manager and commodity trader in the North American market.

Additionally, the board added Markus Mair as an independent director and as a representative of the company's European shareholders. Mair has more than 30 years of experience in the banking and finance industries and has been an active investor in the resource industry for over 15 years. He is currently the founder and CEO of a private investment company in Germany.

“After overcoming our recent challenges we have emerged stronger and more importantly leaner,” CEO Slawek Smulewicz said in a statement.

“Our focus is now on capital efficiency and ramping up production on the Masten Unit in order to build back shareholder value and execute on our pipeline of opportunities.”
