Lloyds Banking Group and NatWest both announced they will be closing roughly 80 high-street branches between them this year.
FTSE 100 Lloyds said it would be closing 26 of its branches, alongside nine Halifax locations and two Bank of Scotland sites, which both fall under the Lloyds Banking Group remit.
Locations set to get the chop to include several across the capital, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Cambridge, while Halifax banks will shut its doors in Bristol and Mirfield, among others.
NatWest said it will close 40 branches, with sites in Croydon, Bristol and Peterborough on the chopping block.
Sister bank the Royal Bank of Scotland announced five closures, including one in Edinburgh.
Banks closing high-street locations is a trend which has picked up pace since the onset of the pandemic, as households were forced to do their banking online or by phone
