A crackdown on the use of flavoured disposable e-cigarettes, which are popular among teenagers, could be introduced to combat Britain’s child vaping epidemic, according to The Sun.
Neil O'Brien, the minister for public health, is reportedly planning to gather evidence to justify the clampdown on vapes such as Elf Bars, which are flavoured like sweets and fruit.
While health bosses still support using vapes to help adult smokers quit cigarettes, concerns have arisen over the targeting of children with fruit-flavoured vapes, which have been linked to alcopops.
The government will examine the “appearance and characteristics” of vaping products, including the marketing and branding, as well as the flavours available. The review will also consider how products are advertised over social media.
