Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited (AIM:FARN, OTC:FPHAF) has announced the appointment of James O'Brien as its new chief financial officer effective April 3.
O'Brien, who has extensive experience in the US capital markets, will succeed Toni Hänninen, who is leaving the company to pursue a new career opportunity.
Formerly CFO of Cognition Therapeutics, where he successfully led the company through an IPO that raised $52mln, he also served as executive vice president of finance at Enzo Biochem and held positions with increasing responsibilities at pharmaceutical companies such as Actavis, Nycomed, and Bristol Myers Squibb.
O'Brien is a certified public accountant with a Bachelor of Accountancy from George Washington University and an MBA from Fordham University.
Faron said his appointment underscored the business’s ongoing transformation into a global biopharmaceutical company.
"His US business acumen will be a crucial asset for our Company as we plot out the clinical development plan for our lead asset bexmarilimab,” said Markku Jalkanen, chief executive of Faron in a statement.
