EQTEC chosen for study at decommissioned French power station

EQTEC PLC (AIM:EQT) said its French subsidiary has been chosen to lead a technical and commercial feasibility study for a waste-to-energy plant on the site of a decommissioned coal-fired power station in Meyreuil, Provence.

Funded under the Pact for Ecological and Industrial Transition of Gardanne-Meyreuil, EQTEC will get an initial grant of €1mln to carry out the work.

The study will consider one of four potential projects at the site of the former Gardanne power station to produce renewable natural gas from a variety of wood waste types using EQTEC’s technology.

After the study, EQTEC will work on further design details, in partnership with France-based developers, to formalise a project and advance it toward financial close.

David Le Saint, at EQTEC France, added: “Gardanne was a huge plant and a big part of life in Gardanne-Meyreuil.

“The opportunity to help revitalise the site is extremely exciting for us and in line with our approach to local-for-local, waste-to-value solutions.”
