To watch Major League Baseball (MLB) games on AppleTV+ this season will require a subscription to the service, Apple announced on Wednesday.
This is unlike last season when Apple made its weekly doubleheader Friday Night Baseball available for free to anyone with an Apple ID and access to the Apple TV+ app.
Friday Night Baseball is included in Apple TV+’s US$6.99 per month subscription.
Commercial venues in the US will be able to access Friday Night Baseball games through DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV)’s business offering and in Canada, several providers will offer Friday Night Baseball to commercial establishments, Apple said.
Friday Night Baseball will be produced by MLB’s production team in partnership with Apple, the company added.
The first broadcast will take place on April 7, featuring the Texas Rangers at the Chicago Cubs at 2pm ET followed by the San Diego Padres at the Atlanta Braves at 7pm ET.
