Casa Minerals Inc (TSX-V:CASA, OTC:CASXF) said it plans to drill nearly 5,000 metres this year at its Congress gold mine project in a bid to confirm the historic resource on the Arizona property.
The company told shareholders it will drill 20 holes averaging around 250 metres per hole.
In a statement, Casa said that the drilling will build upon its 2022 program, which verified mineral data of the Eastern part of the project.
Casa had explored additional parts of the historic mine and has now developed plans for follow-up and confirmation drilling of the Congress Mine West Zone.
“The objective is to further explore areas of potentially economic gold mineralization and long intervals of strong gold enrichment that were discovered by drilling in 2022,” the company said in a statement.
Last year, the firm started drilling to confirm a historical gold resource of 400,000 to 500,000 tons grading 0.3 ounces per ton, or 9.33 grams per ton (g/t) reported in 1989 by Echo Bay Mines, the most recent operator.
Located in Yavapai county, central Arizona Congress last operated in 1992. Gold occurs with vein quartz and in strongly silicified granite.
