Longtime Marvel executive Victoria Alonso has departed the entertainment studio after a 17-year run.
No reason was given for Alonso’s departure, which occurred last Friday.
The Argentinean film producer was one of Marvel boss Kevin Feige’s closest allies. Her next move remains unclear.
Alonso’s long run at Marvel predated the release of its juggernaut, Iron Man, in 2008.
She most recently served as president of physical and post-production, visual effects and animation production.
Alonso is leaving at a time when newly-returned Disney CEO Bob Iger has put the brakes on Marvel’s content spend, saying that the studio might not be in the business of putting out third or fourth franchise installments for very much longer, according to reports.
Marvel’s most recent release, Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has so far underperformed at the box office with around US$463 million in worldwide sales.
