Manchester United will be reporting quarterly results tomorrow but all the off-field talk around the club is about the next potential owners.
The latest developments took place last week when representatives of Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamid Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe met with club officials at Old Trafford.
The focus of the visits last week and over the weekend was to get a perspective on what they could do with their capital regarding infrastructure, youth development and the women’s team.
The prospective bidders now have until next week to make a second bid for the club.
Latest rumours and reports suggest that the two Glazer brothers who had wished to stay in control of the club have been convinced to sell and are seeking the highest price.
When the club was put up for sale last November, it was believed the Glazers were seeking up to £8bn to part way with the club they’ve controlled for nearly 20 years.
Jim Ratcliffe made a bid for 69% of the company at £4bn last month, meaning some of the shares could remain listed in New York.
Al Thani, who is currently the chair of Qatari Islamic Bank, made a 100% takeover bid which is believed to be around £4.5bn.
This next week will show us how much closer the Glazers get to the £8bn they want.
