Morrisons is cutting its prices for the third time in three months as it attempts to win back customers from discount grocer Aldi.
The supermarket said it was reducing the price of another 490 products, including fresh meat, dairy items, fresh fruit and vegetables, baby essentials, pet food, and freezer items.
Morrisons said it would also extend a price lock on more than 1,000 products, a pledge first announced in January.
The supermarket initially said it would not raise its prices on these items until the end of March and now it is extending the price hold for at least another eight weeks.
In late February, Morrisons said it had invested £148mln into cutting prices in recent months.
Morrisons has been cutting and freezing its prices in a bid to lure back customers from Aldi, which overtook Morrisons to become the fourth-biggest supermarket in the UK last year.
Competition from German discounters has led to an intense price war in the UK supermarket sector, with Tesco and Sainsbury’s also reducing their prices to match Aldi’s.
