Warren Buffett, the billionaire CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc (NYSE:BRK.A), has been in contact with senior officials in US President Joe Biden’s administration to lend assistance during the banking crisis.
Buffett has had multiple conversations with Biden’s team in recent days, according to media reports.
While no formal statement has been released, the discussions have reportedly centred around the possibility of Buffett investing in the US regional banking sector, and Buffett is said to have given advice and guidance about the crisis.
The reported talks come as the US grapples with economic uncertainty in the wake of three banks collapsing this month.
Buffett has a long history of assisting banks in distress, among them Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) and Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS).
In 2011, Berkshire invested $5bn in the Bank of America to help the lender raise capital to boost its balance sheet. Prior to this, at the peak of the global financial crisis in 2008, Berkshire invested $5bn in Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS).
