Businesses in Glendale, Arizona expect two back-to-back Taylor Swift concerts this weekend to bring in more money than the Super Bowl last month, which had an estimated economic impact of at least $600 million.
Pop superstar Swift is kicking off her highly anticipated “The Eras Tour” tonight in Glendale at the same stadium that hosted the Super Bowl last month.
The city is expected to welcome an estimated 150,000 Swifties over the weekend, far exceeding the almost 68,000 sports fans that attended the 2023 Super Bowl.
Glendale has temporarily renamed itself as “Swift City” for the week in honor of it hosting the opening night of the tour.
Hospitality businesses have been preparing for the big weekend by stocking up on supplies and rostering additional staff, with some also coming up with themed drinks named after Swift songs such as ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Midnight Rain.’
