Allup Silica appoints resource development and venture capital specialist as non-executive chair

Allup Silica Ltd (ASX:APS) has tapped resource development and venture capital specialist Campbell Smyth as non-executive chair of the board, effective immediately.

With more than 25 years of experience in fund management, capital markets and corporate finance in the venture and resource sectors, Smyth has participated in the foundation and start-up of multiple exploration successes through to production on the ASX and TSX.

Smyth has particular experience in sector fund management, specialising in microcap and venture capital in commodities – he has assisted in raising more than $500 million in capital for junior resource companies.

“Campbell brings a wealth of corporate finance and market expertise to the role of chair, and we look forward to his guidance as the company continues to develop its projects,” Allup Silica managing director Andrew Haythorpe said.

Allup Silica projects

Allup Silica is an ASX-listed silica sand company with several projects in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Early exploration indications have been encouraging for the company, which is currently targeting the photovoltaic solar panel industry with high-grade, low-impurity silica sand.

APS most recently completed a hand auger drilling program at the Sparkler C Project in Western Australia, where the company’s results revealed an average raw materials surface grade of 98.8% silica, with the potential for premium 99.5% silica and sub-100 parts per million (ppm) iron silica sands once the material is processed from its raw state.
