Boots is slashing the monetary value of points on its loyalty card by 25% at a time when energy bills and overheads continue to rise.
From May, shoppers will earn 3p for every £1 they spend at the health and beauty retailer as opposed to 4p.
The company, which is owned by US firm Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), made the decision to alter how points are accrued on its Advantage Card in response to customer feedback, according to the BBC.
Customers instead will now be able to save 10% in-store on 6,000 of Boots’ own-brand products.
"We understand that more customers are looking to access instant savings, so offering 10% off our Boots own-brand range will give even more opportunities to save,” said Boots’ website.
"We understand that many customers still love saving up their points for big purchases in the future, so will continue to offer 3p worth of points for every £1 spent at Boots."
