Preview: ChatGPT-inspired AI frenzy winner BigBear.ai to report 4Q earnings

With artificial intelligence (AI) stocks capturing investor attention since the launch of OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT a few months ago, BigBear.ai Holdings Inc will be in the spotlight when it releases its fourth quarter and full-year 2022 results after the market close on Monday, March 13.

Over the past 52 weeks, shares of the AI-powered analytics and cyber engineering solutions company have yo-yoed up and down from a low of $0.58 to a high of $16.12.

Its shares took off from about $0.60 in early 2023 as ChatGPT drove a surge of interest in smaller AI companies and with announcements such as BigBear securing additional US Air Force contracts in January, peaking at about $6.10 in early February.

However, BigBear shares have since fallen back down to US$2.59 on Wednesday afternoon.

For 4Q 2022, the company is expected to report a loss per share of $0.08 and revenue of $39.96 million.

For the full-year 2022, the company has forecast revenue of between $150 million to $170 million. This compares to 4Q 2021 revenue of $33.5 million and full-year 2021 revenue of $145.6 million.

The company also expects to achieve single-digital negative adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) in millions for the second half of 2022.
