Roquefort Therapeutics sets up scientific advisory board ahead of ‘key’ milestones

Roquefort Therapeutics said it had set up its scientific its scientific advisory board, boosting expertise as it looks approaches "key" milestones

Roquefort Therapeutics PLC (LSE:ROQ, OTCQB:ROQAF) said it has set up its scientific advisory board to provide guidance as it approaches “key pre-clinical milestones”.

Jo Martin (professor of pathology and deputy vice principal health at Queen Mary, University of London), Trevor Jones (a longtime adviser to the company and previously been a main board director for research & development at The Wellcome Foundation) and Armand Keating (professor of medicine and of biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto) will be the first members on the advisory board, Roquefort said in a statement, “a team of researchers, biopharmaceutical innovators and clinicians […] linking pre-clinical research, clinical trials, production of medicines and the care of patients”.

Working under the group’s chief scientific officer Martin Evans, the advisory board will aid Roquefort as it trials antibody programmes targeting hard-to-treat cancers.

“Each member of the scientific advisory board brings unrivalled scientific expertise and knowledge that will be invaluable as we progress our novel anti-cancer programs,” Evans said, adding that it is “an important step forward for the company in what is an exciting period”.

London-listed Roquefort announced in late January that its ROQ-A1 and ROQ-A2 programmes had successfully demonstrated safety in pre-clinical studies, having signed partnership agreements with a host of cancer research groups beforehand.

It added it aimed to use its development expertise to reach milestones for “licensing transactions or sale of a clinical program”.
