AstraZeneca refinances US$2.25bn of debt

AstraZeneca PLC (LSE:AZN), the UK's largest pharmaceuticals group, has announced a US$2.25bn global bond offering.

The debt issue, which consists of three tranches, is expected to close on 3 March and is registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

AZ plans to use the net proceeds of the offering for general corporate purposes, including the refinancing of existing debt.

As of the end of last year, the company's net liabilities were almost US$23bn.

Joint book-running managers on the transaction include BofA Securities, HSBC Securities (USA), Mizuho Securities USA and Santander US Capital Markets.

Women-owned firms R. Seelaus & Co and Tigress Financial Partners also acted as underwriters on the transaction, in line with AZ's commitment to inclusion and diversity.
