ChatGPT's artificial intelligence frenzy has hit the field of law, as a British startup RobinAI has reached a deal with a Google-backed firm to develop a lawyer-bot capable of drawing up contracts.
RobinAI recently got US$10.5mln (£8.8mln) to develop a law-focused answer to Open AI’s Chat GPT, according to reports.
The firm is working with Anthropic, which is backed by Google and raised more than $1bn.
RobinAI's bot can cut the time it takes to review legal documents by 80% and suggest new wording, the company said. That offers major potential savings on legal fees.
Essentially, Anthropic is developing large-language models — AI algorithms that are trained on enormous amounts of data from internet articles and books (in this case, law materials) and calibrated to imitate human speech and communication.
Robin AI will harness the technology to read legal documents, the company said, noting that a human lawyer is expected to review and sign off on any changes.
Anthropic’s AI, named Claude, was able to pass a US legal entrance exam earlier this year.
