Therma Bright Inc (TSX-V:THRM, OTC:TBRIF) said its partner Inretio Inc, a leading Israeli medical device startup developing a novel clot removal device for use in treating ischemic stroke patients, recently announced promising results for its PREVA mechanical thrombectomy device.
Therma Bright said the device, which is the first and only protective clot retriever that uses a distal basket, has been undergoing a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) animal study at the Shamir Medical Center’s Research Unit in Israel.
The study is progressing as planned, demonstrating the PREVA device’s ability to remove 100% of a blood clot in 85% of the cases, the company said.

Therma Bright noted that the results of the GLP study are a positive sign for the device's future development and potential regulatory approval and commercialization.
The study is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2023, at which point Inretio plans to submit the data, as well as mechanical verification and validation testing data, to the Israeli Ministry of Health for Clinical Trial clearance in humans.
Therma Bright CEO Rob Fia noted that, according to the CDC, someone suffers from a stroke every 40 seconds in the US alone, and every 3.5 minutes someone dies.
