Serco retained for US$690mln US healthcare insurance contract

Serco has been retained by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide healthcare insurance services in a contract worth up to US$690mln if fully utilised.

Lasting for 4 years and seven months, the contract has a one-year base period and four option periods with a commencement date of 1 July 2023.

Serco said the contract is to help US citizens purchase health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.

CMS oversees the health coverage of more than 150mln people in the US.

Mark Irwin, Serco chief executive, said: 'We are grateful for the trust CMS has placed in us to continue to deliver these vital eligibility services building on the value-based relationship we have formed since commencing these services in 2013.”

Shares were flat at 151.3p.
