Future names Jon Steinberg as CEO

Future PLC (LSE:FUTR), the multimedia company, has named Jon Steinberg as its new chief executive.

Steinberg will join the company on 3 April this year and will replace Zillah Byng-Thorne, who is stepping down on 31 March, according to a statement.

Byng-Thorne will, however, remain available to support Steinberg for a two-month transitionary period.

Steinberg is an “experienced” executive, with a “strong track record” of innovation, scaling media groups and creating value, said Future.

He will be joining Future from Altice USA’s News and Advertising division, where he was president.

Previous roles also include CEO of DailyMail.com North America, president and COO of BuzzFeed and strategic development manager at Google.

He is also currently a senior adviser to The Raine Group, which is conducting the sales process of Manchester United.

“Jon has highly valuable expertise and has developed a fantastic track record, combining entrepreneurialism with leadership at some of the very best digital and media organisations operating at scale,” said chair Richard Huntingford.
