Frontier Energy Ltd (ASX:FHE) has appointed seasoned energy executive Matthew Kay as an adviser to the board to assist with the commercial strategy of the Bristol Springs Green Hydrogen Project in Perth.
Kay is a former member of the board of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association and was chair of its Executive Committee.
In his 30 years of industry experience, he has had oversight of about 500 staff working across ten locations in Australia and New Zealand.
Energy professional
Kay was most recently the managing director of Beach Energy, where he helped to quadruple the size of the company during his six-year tenure.
Prior to Beach Energy, he was the executive general manager of strategy and commercial at Oil Search, where he led the strategy, commercial, supply chain, economics, marketing, M&A and legal functions.
At Woodside Energy, where he held various leadership roles for over a decade, he oversaw production professionals, including the reservoir management, HSE, finance, HR, engineering optimisation of LNG, domestic gas and oil production facilities and product shipping and offtake.
Extensive experience
“Matt has significant experience in the energy sector with extensive experience in negotiating and structuring a broad range of LNG production, pipeline gas, product sales and M&A agreements,” Frontier managing director Sam Lee Mohan said.
“I look forward to working with Matt in progressing the Bristol Springs Green Hydrogen Project.”
Cost-efficient project
Frontier recently completed a pre-feasibility study that outlined the potential of Bristol Spring to be both an earlier mover – being surrounded by likely early adopters into the hydrogen industry in the transition from fossil fuels – and one of the lowest cost green hydrogen assets in Australia.
The company has been able to reduce operating and capital costs given its close proximity to major infrastructure compared to more remote hydrogen projects.
