NickelX Ltd (ASX:NKL) has kicked-off a detailed auger soil sampling program over four high-priority targets at the Dalwallinu Project of Western Australia, exploring for nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) mineralisation.
The company is covering a 50 metre by 50 metre grid over the targets, filling in a previous 100 metre by 200 metre survey.
Previous geochemistry sampling has indicated the project holds some of the highest Western Yilgarn PGE recordings to-date, grading at 73.7 parts per billion (ppb) platinum and palladium, 466 parts per million (ppm) nickel and 843 ppm copper, with a north-south 5-kilometre strike returning results of over 10 ppb.
Well-defined exploration targets
“The detailed close spaced infill auger drilling soil sampling program combined with historical and current soil samples, points to some very well-defined exploration targets, seeking Julimar Style Nickel-Copper-PGE mineralisation,” NickelX managing director Matt Gauci said.
“Magnetic data also indicates the Barra Barra Greenstone Belt intrusive – which is being targeted for Ni-CuPGE mineralisation – represents a folded tabular body, either originally a dyke or a sill.
“The exploration team are very excited by the prospectivity the four high priority targets represent and in conjunction with the current infill soil sampling program are progressing EM (electromagnetic) surveys and drilling permits to take the project forward.”
Dalwallinu covers some 86-square-kilometres over the Barra Barra Greenstone Belt, some 150 kilometres north-east of Julimar.
The project sits on accessible farmland, with sealed road access and no native title concerns.
NickelX expects the auger sampling program to be completed within the week, with assays available by the end of the March quarter.
