Stellar Resources Ltd (ASX:SRZ) is in possession of results from the first two drillholes of its Phase 2B drilling program at Severn, the largest deposit in the company’s flagship Heemskirk Tin Project.
Back in September, the Tasmanian-focused explorer kicked off an infill drilling program of eight inclined diamond holes for around 3,860 metres at the prospect.
Highlights
Things are progressing well, with four holes drilled and a fifth just started, ranging across 2,254 metres to date.
Stellar is focused on growing the indicated mineral resource in wide high-grade areas at the project, and it has got what it bargained for in the first two of the drill holes, which returned the fifth-best significant intersection recorded to date at Severn on a tin grade thickness basis (Sn%*m), recording:
- 42.9 metres @ 0.77% tin from 490.1 metres, including 15.9 metres @ 1.27% tin from 496 metres; and
- 39.4 metres @ 0.46% tin from 500.3 metres, including 5.8 metres @ 0.86% tin from 500.3 metres, and 4.7 metres @ 0.83% tin from 513 metres.
The results extend the north-plunging, high tin grade * thickness (Sn%*m) zone at northern Severn by roughly 100 metres down dip and 100 metres to the north.
The zone now extends for a total of around 300 metres down dip and up to 150 metres along strike.
Drilling is progressing to plan with four diamond holes for 2,254 metres completed to February 17.
More results on way
The other three holes are at various stages:
- ZS157 has been drilled, and intersected sulphide veining (pyrrhotite and pyrite) and cassiterite near the expected positions with the presence of tin confirmed by handheld XRF readings;
- ZS158 was also recently completed, and core processing, logging and sampling are now underway; and
- ZS159 was started on February 14 and is currently tracking at 140 metres of the 350 metres planned depth.
The company plans to update the Severn mineral resource estimate (MRE) in mid-2023, while a pre-feasibility study for Heemskirk is planned for the second half of the year.
Growing the resource
“These strong results from the first two Phase 2B drillholes have significantly grown the north-plunging, high grade-thickness zone at northern Severn beyond that already established by our Phase 2A drilling last year,” executive director Gary Fietz said.
“The Phase 2B drill program is progressing well, with all results expected to be incorporated into the mid-2023 MRE update.”
