Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has successfully delineated a large gold anomaly at the Carnage prospect at the Ora Banda South Gold Project in Western Australia, following-up on high-grade results from aircore drilling that graded up to 4 metres at 30.20 g/t gold from 44 metres of depth.

The company completed nine wide-spaced reverse circulation (RC) holes for 1,814 metres of drilling, targeting Carnage’s 2.1-kilometre strike.
Results of note include:
- 1 metre at 9.49g/t gold from 137 metres;
- 3 metres at 0.45g/t from 72 metres;
- 2 metres at 0.65g/t from 49 metres;
- 5 metres at 0.26g/t from 69 metres; and
- 8 metres at 0.15g/t from 63 metres.
Overall, these results confirmed the presence of an extensive gold anomaly within the saprock profile at Carnage, and the company believes the local geology has the potential to host a large gold deposit.
The region holds major shear structures, crosscutting a sedimentary basin with a ‘substantial’ regolith gold anomaly previously identified by aircore drilling.
Fresh high-grade gold vein
“This is the very first RC program that has been completed at Carnage. The drilling was widely spaced as a first pass reconnaissance program,” Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale said.
“The assays have confirmed the existing regolith anomaly and intersected a high-grade gold vein in the fresh rock that may be part of a larger system, yet to be uncovered.
“The RC drilling confirmed the geological interpretation defined by the aircore and geophysics.”
CAV believes the gold anomaly may have an intrusion-related source based on its prospective geochemistry, which includes a profile of arsenic, tin, tungsten and bismuth – pathfinder elements.
The company has drawn parallels with the 2.5-million-ounce at 4 g/t Invincible Gold Mine, discovered by Gold Fields Limited near Kambalda in 2012.
