Mosman Oil and Gas Ltd (AIM:MSMN) has announced the receipt of a sacred site clearance certificate for its project in the Amadeus Basin, within Australia’s Northern Territory, where it plans to conduct exploration activities.
"The sacred site clearance certificate from the Central Land Council is a major forward step in securing several approvals for our seismic programme exploring the permit,” said chairman John Barr.
"Now that we have received the certificate other approvals can be progressed and work will then commence."
The company, in a statement, highlighted that the area is deemed one of the most prospective onshore areas in the Northern Territory, for conventional and unconventional oil and gas, as well as helium and hydrogen.
Mosman in 2021 completed an airborne gravity and gradiometry data acquisition survey, which it said was a significant first step for exploration as it was the first time data was acquired for the whole permit.
An October 2022 report estimated that the project area could host some 440bn cubic feet of total gas (as a ‘best’ estimate), whilst the upside case was estimated at some 2.29tn cubic feet.
