Base Resources won awards for labour and transparency policies at the Africa Mining Indaba conference in the Junior ESG category.
Under the labour category, the Kenya-focused minerals sands group was credited for going ‘above and beyond’ in its employment practices, such as respect of labour rights, promoting equal opportunities and skill development.
Base also was recognised in the transparency category for demonstrating leading practice and for working on systems that achieve business integrity and good governance.
“Our goal is to build respectful relationships by conducting our business in a legal, honest and ethical manner,” said Base.
