SpectrumX Holdings UK Ltd said it has demonstrated its sustainability credentials by gaining its ISO 14001 certification for the manufacture of its hypochlorous acid (HOCl)-based products, including a hand rub and body wash.
Receiving the ISO 14001 certification confirms it has a certified environmental management system (EMS) in place to monitor and manage its manufacturing and business processes, the UK-based healthcare company said in a statement on Thursday.
In order to achieve the certification, SpectrumX had to demonstrate how its EMS is implemented in its manufacturing plant in Knutsford, Cheshire, along with its commitment to managing and minimising impacts on the environment, as well as its commitment to reducing pollution and harm to the environment.
Measures to ensure it has built a sustainable, environmentally friendly business have included ensuring internal policies and governance are aligned to environmental goals, using manufacturing processes which have low energy usage, using facilities with strong eco credentials and partnering with organisations with shared beliefs, the company said.
“Taking care of and preventing negative impact on the environment are important challenges facing businesses today and ones we are tackling head-on as an organisation,” said chief executive Damien Hancox.
“Achieving ISO 14001 certification demonstrates that SpectrumX is a business that actively works towards reducing our environmental footprint.”
The new certification adds to the ISO 9001 quality management systems certification the company has already received, which Hancox said “opens up SpectrumX’s ability to trade its novel HOCl-based pharmaceutical, biocide and cosmetic products with many public sector organisations who demand these standards from their supply chain.”
He added: “As well as being critical to our net zero commitments, achieving the certification was key to the NHS tender process and is therefore a massive milestone for the business.”
ISO 14001 is the leading international management systems standard for environmental performance, with a framework for organisations to demonstrate their continuous commitment to mitigating environmental impact and improving environmental performance.
SpectrumX is currently carrying out a pre-IPO capital raise in advance of a planned listing on the London Stock Exchange.
