Westar Resources Ltd (ASX:WSR) has unearthed multiple fractionated pegmatite systems at its Mindoolah Project in WA’s Murchison region.
A recent fieldwork campaign has confirmed several outcropping pegmatites and hinted at the project’s potential for buried pegmatite formations, while pathfinder rock chip assays (anomalous for niobium, tantalum and rubidium) were mapped along 4 strike kilometres.
Digging deeper into the results, the explorer’s soil sampling program has confirmed some important niobium and tantalum trends. The program also interpreted some lithium surface depletion, which hints at fractionated units that could one day be priority drill targets.
Westar is preparing to return to the soil with some follow-up programs. These will define the pegmatite extents and nail down the target areas before the company can hit the ground running with a maiden reverse circulation drill program.

Fast-tracking field programs
Westar managing director Karl Jupp said: “Westar has used the due diligence period at Mindoolah to confirm the presence of fractionated pegmatites, enhancing the prospectivity of the project for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) mineralisation.
“With the potential of multiple pegmatite systems under thin cover and established surface lithium depletion, Westar intends to rapidly progress additional field programs to refine targets for RC drilling.
“Additionally, only a small percentage of the interpreted fertile belt has been mapped or sampled to date; highlighting the possibility of multiple prospect areas.”
About Mindoolah
Mindoolah spans roughly 100 square kilometres in WA’s highly prospective Murchison Mineral Field.
The tenement lies on the southwestern end of the Weld Range, home to many historical workings.
In the past, gold and base metal exploration mapped multiple pegmatite occurrences in the western project area, but the property’s LCT potential remains untapped.
As it deepens its understanding at Mindoolah, Westar hopes to move one step closer to staking an attractive lithium discovery.
Mindoolah is roughly 70 kilometres northwest of Cue, a small town known as the ‘Queen of the Murchison’.
