Twilio stock advances as it confirms 2022 revenue growth

Twilio Inc (NYSE:TWLO) saw its stock advance around 12% in Wednesday’s after-hours deals after reporting 22% revenue growth to US$1.02 billion for the fourth quarter.

It sees the customer engagement platform’s full-year revenue tally rise 35% year-on-year to US$3.83 billion, leading to a US$1.2 billion loss (GAAP) for the twelve months.

Operationally, Twilio highlighted that its number of active customer accounts had risen to 290,000 from 256,000 at the end of last year.

The results statement follows news of management changes and lay-offs earlier this week.

Jeff Lawson, Twilio's chief executive, commented: “We announced meaningful changes to Twilio’s leadership group, organizational structure, team size and capital allocation strategy that will both accelerate our path to profitability and most importantly, improve our execution in delivering our Engagement Platform strategy for our customers.”

“While our vision remains, the way we operate and execute has changed — all in service of driving better focus for the business and ultimately enhancing value creation for our shareholders.”

Boosting equity holders, the group also announced today it will launch a US$1bn share buy-back programme.

In after-hours dealing, Twilio stock gained US$8.11 or 12.28% changing hands at US$74.10.
