FTSE 100 shrinks back from 8,000 point ceiling - Market Report

The FTSE 100 has been trending lower so far this morning, remaining below the fabled 8,000 point mark. Fresh data from the ONS suggests that UK inflation is starting to fall but remains at forty year highs.

Full-year profits at Barclays fell 14% in 2022 after the bank’s litigation charges quintupled on the year. The charges related to the over-issuance of securities.

Homeware retailer Dunelm is reporting a slip in first-half profits, saying that heavy discounting and cost inflation are to blame.

And in small caps Technology Minerals says its battery recycling associate has been issued with a Schedule 5 Notice. The notice is the final stage before a licence is determined, which if successful will enable the plant to commence recycling operations.

That’s all for now, today’s report was written by Jai Singh and presented by Thomas Warner.
