Avira Resources Ltd (ASX:AVW) is in possession of the results of fixed-loop EM (FLEM) and downhole EM (DHEM) surveys recently completed at the Puolalaki Nickel-Copper Project in northern Sweden.
Interpretation of the survey data shows that multiple strong – more than 10,000 Siemens (S) – conductors are present within the project area.
Massive sulphide intersections
The EM conductors are 50 to 600 metres from historically reported massive sulphide intersections. Based on this, and the strong conductance (10,000 to 40,000S), Avira believes the conductors are prospective targets for massive nickel sulphide mineralisation.
FLEM was effective down to roughly 500 metres and the DHEM has provided detailed resolution of discrete targets.
Based on the information the company has gathered, it has picked out five priority diamond drill targets. The deeper target (T5) is very large – 750 by 150 metres – and a potentially significant feature (10,000S).
Final results and processed data from the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-borne magnetic survey are still pending.
High-priority drill targets picked out
The results from these surveys have identified a number of high-priority drill targets with a mix of relatively discrete, highly conductive bodies at shallow depths (30 to 100 metres) and an additional large target at depth (400 to 500 metres).
“The initial interpretation and results from the recent EM surveys are extremely pleasing,” said managing director David Deloub.
“The combination of fixed-loop EM and aerial magnetics (preliminary) has provided us with some immediate and highly prospective drill targets both near surface and at depth. Based on these results we intend to mobilise an appropriate drill rig to test these results as soon as practicable.”
Next steps
Avira believes the electromagnetic conductors are prospective targets for massive nickel sulphide mineralisation due to the strong conductance (more than 10,000S) of the anomalies and their close proximity to historical nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation.
The early breakthrough at Puolalaki has produced five priority diamond drill targets, across roughly 1000 metres.
This initial drilling campaign will focus on delineation of the shallower targets as well as the significant deeper T5 target.
DHEM surveying of these new drill holes will confirm targets have been successfully tested and will assist with any follow-up drilling requirements.
The company plans to get a drill rig mobilised to site as soon as it can.
