FirstGroup PLC (LSE:FGP) said it has won an extension to continue running the South Western Railway (SWR) train service for another two years.
The Department for Transport gave the green light on the option to keep working with the FTSE 250-listed company, which has held the contract since May 2021.
It will now run until 25 May 2025 on the existing terms.
SWR provides suburban services in the counties of Surrey, Hampshire and Dorset, as well as regional services in Devon, Somerset, Berkshire and Wiltshire.
In a statement, FirstGroup chief executive Graham Sutherland said the contract extension “enables us to build on the achievements of the first two years of the contract and continue improving the customer offering.”
