Miramar Resources wraps up its initial aircore campaign at Lang Well in rare earths quest

Miramar Resources Ltd (ASX:M2R) has wrapped up an initial aircore drilling campaign at Toben Bore target within the 100%-owned Lang Well Project in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

This program was carried out in an area where historical aircore drilling in 2010 returned elevated lanthanum and cerium results in several holes.

The only sample assayed for rare earth elements (REEs) in this campaign returned 4 metres at 1,500 ppm total rare earth oxides (TREO) from 28 metres.

No other REE analysis was conducted at that time and no follow-up work was completed until Miramar secured the project in 2020. The recent drilling is the first on the project since 2010.

REE potential

Miramar Resources executive chairman Allan Kelly said there was potential for a significant amount of shallow REE mineralisation to be outlined at Lang Well.

The company also completed a second line of aircore holes along a north-south fence line track over a combined lanthanum and cerium anomaly in reconnaissance soil samples collected by Miramar in 2020.

This recent soil anomaly is also coincident with a historic samarium and gold auger anomaly.

Samarium anomalies

“There are several large samarium auger anomalies at Lang Well that have not been analysed for any other rare earths or followed up with any systematic drilling or analysis,” Kelly said.

Samples from the recent aircore program have been submitted for analysis of gold and multi-elements, including a full REE suite.

Further aircore drilling is planned pending the results of this program and the grant of the neighbouring Exploration Licence application.

About Lang Well

The Lang Well Project is in the Murchison region of Western Australia, roughly halfway between the Deflector and Golden Grove mining operations.

The project consists of one granted and one pending Exploration Licence, covering 291 square kilometres, and is considered prospective for gold and/or REE mineralisation.
