Golden Rim Resources hits further broad oxide gold at Kada’s Bereko prospect

Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has further grown the prospectivity of Bereko prospect within the flagship Kada Gold Project in Guinea through further shallow, broad oxide gold results.

The explorer has received encouraging results from the first 24 reverse circulation (RC) holes totalling 3,035 metres of an exploration and infill drilling program at Bereko, 9 kilometres north of the 930,000-ounce mineral resource estimate (MRE) at Massan.

As well as 18 metres at 2.6 g/t gold from 48 metres, including 6 metres at 6.1 g/t from 55 metres, other strong Bereko results are 16 metres at 1.0 g/t from 13 metres, 16 metres at 1.0 g/t from 23 metres and 6 metres at 1.0 g/t from 48 metres.

Massan results

Over at Massan, infill and resource extension drilling continue to prove the continuity of mineralisation through the inferred resource.

Best new intersections from Massan are:

  • MSRC013 – 1-metre at 18.2 g/t gold from 4 metres;
  • MSRC014 - 31 metres at 0.5 g/t from 8 metres, 25 metres at 0.5 g/t from 71 metres and 9 metres at 1.2 g/t from 161 metres with the hole ending in mineralisation.
  • MSRC016 – 10 metres at 1.5 g/t gold from 0 metres, 1-metre at 9.0 g/t from 12 metres and 10 metres at 1.5 g/t from 22 metres.

Potential for series of deposits

Golden Rim’s chief executive officer Tim Strong said, “It is exciting to report that Golden Rim’s exploration RC drilling at Kada has continued to find zones of shallow oxide gold both at Bereko and proximal to our resource at Massan.

"As we continue drilling at Bereko, we hope to further understand the mineralisation, and the initiation of the diamond drilling will allow the team to better understand the structural controls in the area.

“We see the potential for a series of deposits along the 15-kilometre-long Kada mineralised trend and these continued results from Bereko support that thesis. As drilling progresses, we hope to explore further areas of potential along the belt.”

Kada drilling

The company kicked off a 10,000-metre RC drilling program at Kada in mid-December 2022 comprising exploration drilling at Bereko, exploration drilling at Massan north of the MRE and some resource extension and infill drilling around the margins of the MRE.

There has been 42 holes completed at Bereko designed to follow up maiden drilling in 2022 that returned up to 10 metres at 5.5 g/t gold and 11 metres at 6.3 g/t. Four holes remain to be drilled.

Results indicate mineralisation continuity across the northern Bereko prospect, around the margins of some major artisanal workings.

Results outside Massan MRE

The company has received results from 12 holes north of the MRE area at Massan.

Targets included geophysical anomalies, zones of anomalous bedrock gold identified in auger drilling, and follow up drilling around recent oxide gold intercepts in RC drilling 400 metres north of the MRE, including 66 metres at 1.0 g/t gold and 45 metres at 0.7 g/t.

Results include:

  • 5 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 12 metres;
  • 6 metres at 1.4 g/t from 7 metres;
  • 17 metres at 0.3 g/t from 29 metres; and
  • 8 metres at 1.8 g/t from 80 metres.

At Massan MRE resource extension and infill drilling has focused on delineating the northern extent of the ore body, aiming to increase the overall tonnage of the project in the next MRE update.

The drilling has returned mineralised intercepts of similar widths to those included in the current MRE.

Golden Rim is investigating the influence of ENE structures within the ore body targeted by artisanal miners and widely seen in the current trenching program.

Next steps

As well as the additional four holes planned at Bereko, a trenching program is underway across the Massan MRE area and beyond, with 585 metres of trenching completed of a planned 725 metres.

Critical structural information is expected from these trenches that will be used in updated modelling as the Massan prospect is advanced toward an updated MRE.

The company also expects to begin a 3,500-metre diamond drilling campaign at Kada in mid-February 2023.

At Bereko, this drilling will focus on confirming the width, grade and extensions of the significant gold mineralisation discovered in the initial RC drilling program and providing structural information needed for resource estimation.

Diamond drilling at Massan will test numerous zones of open mineralisation at depth, including below 29 metres at 8.5 g/t gold in a previous hole as well as providing further certainty to progress the resource towards a higher confidence classification.

The company is also planning an aircore program to test newly identified mineralisation in the Kada and the Bamfele licence areas, to begin at the completion of RC drilling.
