Great Boulder Resources secures zinc-lead-prospective Wellington tenure in Western Australia's Earaheedy Basin

Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has been granted four of the five exploration licences it is seeking at the 100%-owned Wellington Base Metals Project in WA, snapping up a large swathe of ground prospective for Mississippi Valley-type zinc-lead mineralisation.

The company expects the fifth and final exploration licence to be granted soon, after which GBR will begin a wide-spaced soil sampling program, scheduled for late March.

“World-class base metals potential”

“We are excited to have these Wellington tenements granted,” Great Boulder Resources managing director Andrew Paterson said.

“This process is testament to the relationship we have established with the people of the Tarlka Matuwa Piarku Aboriginal Corporation (TMPAC) and we look forward to collaborating with them as we commence exploration on the project.

“We expect the final tenement to be granted soon, giving us a total project area of 1,134 square kilometres in an area with world-class base metals potential.”

Great Boulder’s 2020 desktop study of the tenure identified a large geochemical target in the Earaheedy Basin similar to Rumble Resources Ltd’s large-scale zinc-lead discovery at Chinook.

Exploration efforts by Rumble and Strickland Metals Ltd on nearby tenements have also demonstrated the basin’s potential to become a world-class Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) mineralised province.

Wellington Project is in the Earaheedy Basin, 140 kilometres east of Wiluna.
