Britishvolt: Greybull Capital reportedly in the mix to acquire north-east battery start-up

A private equity group has reportedly emerged as a potential buyer for the defunct battery start-up Britishvolt.

According to the Financial Times, Greybull Capital executives recently met with Britishvolt management to discuss proposals after being brought in as a possible saviour.

The battery start-up, which had aspirations of building the UK's largest battery factory, recently went into administration after running out of cash.

The administrators at EY are pushing for a quick sale and have asked bidders to submit firm offers by Wednesday with the aim of closing the deal by the end of the week.

Greybull is currently considering submitting a final bid, the paper said.

Greybull, established over a decade ago, has been closely associated with the collapses of airline Monarch and British Steel.
