Galileo Mining confirms new zones that point to potential Callisto palladium-platinum-gold-rhodium-copper-nickel growth

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has fielded a batch of promising assays from recent drilling at the Callisto palladium-platinum-gold-rhodium-copper-nickel discovery at the company’s 100% owned Norseman project in Western Australia.

“Today’s assay results continue to expand the existing footprint of rich sulphide mineralisation at Callisto and demonstrate considerable opportunity for growth as we step out our drilling programs over the coming months,” managing director Brad Underwood said.

“The drill result from NRCD292 is from a new sulphide zone in the same geological position as the original discovery, and our working model is one of multiple mineralised zones in the area.

New sulphide intrusion

“This idea is further confirmed by the identification of a new intrusion 250 metres north of the Callisto discovery. At this location, we are seeing disseminated sulphides with the same pattern of metal distribution and the same host rocks.

“The anomalous drill results in this new area will be followed up with RC drill testing aiming to vector towards higher grade metal zones.

“Meanwhile, our diamond drilling is using the same exploration concepts to vector towards a potential source of mineralisation at Callisto with 100-metre step-out drilling designed to provide a broad framework of the overall mineralised area.

“With over five kilometres of prospective rocks along strike to the north, and with multiple mineralised intrusions discovered to date, we believe the opportunity for growth in this new palladium-nickel district is significant.”

Highlights

The company made a sulphide intersection from a new lower zone with high-grade assays such as:

  • 10 metres at 2.19 g/t 3E1 (1.84 g/t palladium, 0.31 g/t platinum, 0.04 g/t gold), 0.27% copper and 0.23% nickel from 279 metres; including
  • 3 metres at 3.91 g/t 3E (3.12 g/t palladium, 0.68 g/t platinum, 0.11 g/t gold), 0.65% copper and 0.48% nickel from 280 metres.

There has been consistent high-grade mineralisation between drill holes on existing sections with significant results, such as:

  • 29 metres at 1.58 g/t 3E (1.30 g/t palladium, 0.21 g/t platinum, 0.07 g/t gold), 0.29% copper and 0.26% nickel from 154 metres, including 11 metres at 2.44 g/t 3E (2.01 g/t palladium, 0.32 g/t platinum, 0.11 g/t gold), 0.49% copper and 0.36% nickel from 168 metres; and
  • 25 metres at 1.53 g/t 3E (1.23 g/t palladium, 0.23 g/t platinum, 0.08 g/t gold), 0.22% copper and 0.26% nickel from 296 metres, including 3 metres at 2.57 g/t 3E (2.05 g/t palladium, 0.38 g/t platinum, 0.14 g/t gold), 0.54% copper and 0.40% nickel from 311 metres.

Drilling continues

Assay results are pending for a further 14 completed drill holes.

Diamond drilling continues at the project, targeting high-grade sulphide zones and investigating the possible source of the Callisto discovery to the east.

A new shallow mineralised intrusion, 250 metres north of Callisto, has yielded anomalous assays with disseminated sulphides in the same mafic/ultramafic host rock.

Results such as 24 metres at 0.29 g/t 3E, 0.03% copper and 0.10% nickel from 60 metres will require follow-up drill testing.

A disseminated nickel sulphide target 2,400 metres north of Callisto continues to expand with results including 9 metres at 0.55 % nickel and 0.02% cobalt from 73 metres.
